Can your PC run a particular game?

· WORLD GAMING GUIDE

Record the actual processor, graphics hardware, memory, operating system and free storage, then compare them with the game's official requirements. A minimum specification is not a promise of smooth play at your chosen settings. Missing information should remain an unknown rather than become a compatibility claim.

Identify the actual machine

On Windows, the device information page identifies the processor, installed RAM and system type. Check graphics hardware separately using the system or manufacturer's tools. A product family's marketing name is insufficient: laptop and desktop parts with similar names can differ. Record the drive where you intend to install the game.

Compare a defined target

Write down resolution, intended settings and the scenario you care about. If the publisher does not explain what its recommended specification targets, do not translate it into a frame-rate promise. Include required accounts, launchers and connection conditions alongside hardware.

Your action plan

  1. Record the exact game edition, source date and component references.
  2. Compare each requirement separately and list missing information.
  3. If a representative demo exists, repeat a scene at documented settings.

Your verification sheet

Tick completed checks and note what remains uncertain. This tool keeps values in the page without sending them or creating a saved file. Copy any notes you want to keep.

Practical example

Fictional case: a game lists 16 GB RAM and 80 GB storage. Your PC has 16 GB RAM and 90 GB free on the intended drive. Those two values do not establish graphics compatibility or the space needed during updates. Check the remaining requirements and the publisher's storage guidance before buying; do not describe this as a certified performance test.

Common questions

Is more graphics memory always enough?

No. The exact graphics processor and game requirements matter; capacity alone does not compare two devices.

Can a smooth menu prove the game will run well?

No. Try a representative scene if possible and record what the test does and does not cover.
